How does APS TherapyTM work?

APS TherapyTM uses electrodes to transfer the signal (See what is APS) to the body. Mostly adhesive electrodes are used which can be re-used easily. APS TherapyTM recommends the PALS electrodes from Axelgaard because these are tested on biocompatibility with APS TherapyTM.

The electrodes are applied to the body in such way that the affected area is captured between the black and the red electrodes. A micro current signal similar to the action potential goes from one pair of electrodes to the other. This current has to go through the body to be affective.

Treatment

In the thermo images below you can clearly see the effect of treatment in an inflamed knee.

stage 1
stage 2
stage 3
stage 4
This is the stage before treatment. You can clearly see on the thermo photo that there are hotspots which indicate the inflamed areas and therefore also the painful areas. In this stage the electrodes are applied and the treatment is being started. This is 5 minutes after treatment. You can clearly see the reduction of the hotspots and also you can see the displacement of the hotspots in the direction of the torso. This is the stage of 10 minutes after treatment. You can see that the hotspots have almost disappeared and that the body has gotten rid of the problem substances.

Operation

The APS device has several important aspects. These will be illustrated with the image below.

Intensity knob

With this knob you can adjust the intensity of the treatment.

Pulsed/Continuous

With this selector you can choose between the continuous mode or the pulse mode.

Display

The display shows the current that goes through the body. The value is read in milliamps.

Outlets

These outlets provide the current. The outlets are used to connect the cords with the electrodes.

Battery lid

The 9V battery is behind this lid.
